John Moeller, known as Action Ministries president & CEO to most, but “Lightnin’ John” to some, will throw the first pitch when the Atlanta Braves take on the St. Louis Cardinals this Friday, Oct. 2, at Turner Field.

Fans of Action Ministries, and of the Atlanta Braves, are invited to get in on the action and make a pledge of $1 per mile per hour of the speed of Moeller’s pitch.  If Moeller throws a 40 MPH pitch, the individual’s pledge would be $40 with a cap of 90 MPH.

The first two individuals who register the earliest and come closest to the actual MPH of Moeller’s pitch will receive a brand-new Kindle Nook and a personalized photograph signed by football legends Bill Curry, Homer Rice and Dan Reeves.

Proceeds raised by the pledge drive will benefit the Action Ministries Atlanta Children’s Program. Educational opportunities offered at the Children’s Program — such as one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance, Reading is Fun, Math Night and other enrichment programs and academically stimulating summer camps — help children succeed at school, removing one of the barriers that can prevent people from breaking the cycle of poverty.

Batter up!  Let’s hit it out of the park!
