My  newest novel, The Hat Trick, is something right out of the world of pulp fiction. This was back in the 20s, 30s and 40s, before the real rise of comic books. These were books and magazines that had complete stories in them and were sometimes even written by famous authors – although usually under a pseudonym. In fact, during the height of their popularity, writers who wrote for pulp stories got paid really well. They cranked out a new story every week and got a really good paycheck when they turned it in. 

They were called “pulp” fiction because of the cheap pulpy paper that they were printed on. These were books not mean to last. This is why some of them are rather expensive when you find them at conventions.

Many of these stories have survived and some publishers have brought them to the digital world. I have read several books featuring The Shadow and The Spider on my Kindle.

The pulp stories were famous for their action, violence, crazy villains, sometimes crazier heroes, and their covers.

So, in celebration of those artists and writers, and my publishing The Hat Trick, here are some of those famous covers.
