tonymacx86 - Amazon updates its Kindle app for Mac

If you don't have a tablet but still want to be able to read eBooks from Amazon, its Kindle app for Mac might be a viable alternative. The company has just updated its Kindle app for Mac with a few new features, including support for Japanese.

We would expect Japanese support to only appeal to a fairly small part of our readership, but how about some gesture support for panning and swiping for when you're reading eBooks on your MacBook Air? Amazon has also added support for Kindle Format 8 books which is meant to deliver richer formatting, as well as improved support for larger libraries and increased performance for eBooks that have a large number of notes and highlights.

The Kindle app for Mac has also received the customary bug fixes you'd expect in a new version, although Amazon didn't go into any details here beyond mentioning general performance improvements. The app is available from the Mac App Store for free as of right now.
