Amazon: Pay Up to Lose Kindle Fire Ads | Mobile Marketing Watch

Amazon Pay Up to Lose Kindle Fire Ads 300x200 Amazon: Pay Up to Lose Kindle Fire AdsLove tablets but hate mobile ads? If so, Amazon has a solution. But you’ll have to pay for it.

Amazon says consumers will gain the option to pay a $15 fee to restrict and effectively block all advertisements on its new Kindle Fire tablets.

According to published reports Monday, the cost is a one-time lifetime fee. Users who don’t pay up will continue to see display ads.

“We know from our Kindle reader line that customers love our special offers and very few people choose to opt out,” Amazon said. “We’re happy to offer customers the choice.”

And if there was ever a time in which Amazon wanted to make its customers happy, it’s now. Last week, Amazon lifted the veil on three new Kindle Fire HD tablets, all of which will reach consumers before the end of 2012.

“We want to make money when people use our devices, not when they buy our devices,” says Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. “If somebody buys one of our devices and puts it in a desk drawer and never uses it, we don’t deserve to make any money.”
