Amazon Kindle mobile phone coming this year, with a 3D version in ...

Online retailer Amazon is allegedly going to release its own mobile phone, in not one, but two different versions.

This comes from a posting on Hacker News, covered by TechCrunch and The Verge.

The piece has the subject line of: ‘Insider’s details about the Amazon Phone’, indicating the source of the info.

It notes the cheaper mobile will feature software similar to the Kindle tablets, where it will be released by the end of this year.

The second version, has the codename of ‘smith’, and is more expensive than the first device, but it won’t be released until next year.

Supposedly, it has a 3D user interface, although the screen itself isn’t of that ilk.

Instead, it will give the impression of 3D, by the way it tracks the users’ eyes and head movements.

This is thanks to the four cameras on the front, placed in each of the corners.

Amazon, apparently has tested the software, so it ignores others viewing the screen and the 3D illusion isn’t broken.

The informant has stated that the company wanted to have both ready, at the same time, but had difficulties with software and hardware; stay tuned for more.
