My 10-inch version of iPad has replaced my Macbook Air 11 inch as my primary computer, thanks to LTE, long battery life and more importantly simple apps that let me focus on specific tasks. I don’t really carry my notebook with me anywhere and instead have an auxiliary keyboard to help me write longer pieces. I used Logitech bluetooth-cover keyboard for a while, but lately I just carry around an Apple bluetooth keyboard in my briefcase. It is easier to type and feels more natural when penning drafts of copy. That said, I recently reviewed and liked the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX a lot as a dedicated Amazon device – for shopping and also for consuming content.
I am actively and seriously considering making the $229 16 GB version of Kindle Fire HDX as my auxiliary tablet and ebook reader. Yes, it is not cheap, but given how much of my life resides on Amazon’s servers — books, movies and music — and how often I order stuff for my home from Amazon, it will be a worthwhile investment.
