The pre-order party continues with the new 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX tablet with a 2560 by 1600 screen resolution with 339 PPI and 100% sRGB. That does not sound bad for looking at photographs! Pre-order prices start at $380 (16GB on-board, Wifi only, with Special Offers). The 4G LTE options cost $100 more. Going from 16GB to 32GB to 64GB is $50 more at each hop (versus $100 more with the iPads). They are expected to start shipping mid-October 2013 (depending on the model and specs).
The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX cannot match the 2560x1600 resolution of the 8.9-inch model, but it offers 1920 by 1200 with 323 PPI and 100% sRGB. Prices start at $230.
