Amazon Kindle Book Case Study Part 3 - Costly Mistake | Extra ...

mistakeAfter a success of my first kindle book, I published my second kindle book and take it as a case study. At the first place, I thought I can replicate the first success easily. I just followed every single step as in my first book, but things doesn’t go as I wished. Two copies were sold in the first day and there is no more sales in the next few days. I was getting little bit upset and try to figure out the problem. Guess what? The kindle book got a 1-star review, a bad one!! Bad review for your book definitely hurt the book sales because it stop people from clicking the buy button.

What Have I Done?!

The bad review is actually complaining about grammatical error and poor formatting of my kindle book. What are the mistakes I have done that lead to this bad review? The grammatical error is due to no quality control over the book written. I was so excited to get the book published quickly instead of making sure that the book is in great quality. Poor formatting leave bad experience to readers when they are reading the kindle book. I did formatting with Microsoft word in .doc format and it looks good and tidy. However, the formatting is totally out after converted to kindle format. I should have used the “Preview Book” button to check the final outcome but I didn’t.

What’s Next?

I did two costly mistakes which hurt my book sales badly. What is done cannot be undone. The crucial thing is to fix the problems. My plan is to remove the book from Amazon and republish it with newer version which have grammar fixed and properly formatted. Sometimes, it is definitely fine to make mistakes. The key thing is to fix it, learn from it and never repeat the same mistake again. I will get everyone update on the progress in my next post.
