How do you make more sales in the US?

My books sale reasonably well in the UK with one consistently in the top 20 in it's genre and always in the top 100. The others from a few to 50 each month, but I never seem to do well in the US.

Are children in the US so different to UK children that all my titles don't appeal to them? Or do I have to market them differently? Where can I promote them for the US market?

Have you any tips that will help me make more sales in the US?
