Nokia is currently a leading manufacturer of Windows handsets and the company offers an excellent range of models which includes the recently released Lumia 925 and Lumia 920. What may surprise some however is that the Nokia Lumia 520, the lowest ranked in the range is on course to become the fastest selling Windows handset of all times. Thanks to brisk sales since its launch earlier this year.

It is a well-known fact that sales of Windows powered smartphones are not as quick as manufacturers had expected but it seems that compared to the more expensive models Nokia may have hit the target with their newest entry level handset. The Nokia Lumia 520 is on track to become the fastest selling Windows handset which may surprise many people. While top end devices dominate on the Android and iOS platforms it appears as though windows users may be more attracted by competitive prices. The first model hit the market back in April and by the end of May the model had attained an impressive 4.4 per cent of the Windows market with 1 million sales. These figures were tweeted by Alan Mendelevich from industry analysts AdDuplex.

Mendelevich has tweeted again since these figure were revealed with more information on sales of the Nokia Lumia 520, covering this time the period from May to June. Durinjg this period that handsets share of the market has doubled to between 8 and 9 per cent which shows that already we have seen 2 million models sold. Inintially these figures may seem quite unimpressive compared to handsets such as the new Galaxy S4 from Samsung which sold 10 million devices in a month. Windows though, is a significantly less popular platform than Android and 2 million sales is an impressive number for a winows handset. These latest figures also indicate that many consumers looking for a low priced smartphone are more attracted to Windows than Android. As a result we should expect to see various other manufacturers focusing on lower priced handsets rather than premium devices.

The Nokia Lumia 520 is a splendid handset which offers good specification at a very modest price. It looks as though this device will become the fastest selling Windows phone ever produced and this will delight executives at Finnish manufacturers Nokia.
