All the Kindle and Nook platforms require is a properly formatted MS Word document to convert to an ebook. To use the Mobi Machine, you need to insert unfamiliar tags and follow specific instructions to put the document into a format that will work. This is a waste of time, especially considering Kindle support doesn’t list mobi as an acceptable file format for upload.
If all you want is a mobi ebook to post on your website, you can use the Kindle conversion as well. Upload your Word document to Kindle and download the preview file. You will have the mobi file that can be read in your desktop Kindle app or any other Kindle app.The Nook is similar. However, your formatting must be a little different. When you upload it to Nook, you can invite others to preview the file. There are plenty of free epub converters and readers, with which you don’t need to format it with tags, as if it were a website.
If you go to the website at http://nepotism.net, they even offer to convert your ebooks for a low cost. But, what would be the point? I recommend you use the Kindle and Nook platforms and not bother with these products.
