On another post, I discussed what I did to avoid at best the compression artefact sometimes visible in JPEG files.
An image prepared for the Kindle should be equal or less in pixels than 600 wide × 860 tall, up to 127KB in size.
When I prepared the InDesign file, I placed and reduced the image so that it perfectly fit into my page. THIS WAS MY MISTAKE!

The result I got with Kindle Previewer is as follows, the image was made smaller.

However, when I placed the image without altering the size in InDesign, the result I got in Kindle Previewer was way better. See below the screen captures.
