Ater watching Netflix snap up all the exclusive rights going, Amazon are fighting back after acquiring some exclusive content for Amazon Instant Prime users.
Amazon have grabbed exclusive online streaming rights to five NBC/Universal shows. The deal runs for 4 years and brings previous seasons of the hit shows, Suits (season 1), Grimm (season 1), Covert Affairs (seasons 1&2).
These shows can be watched now, while Hannibal will become available later this year and sci-fi drama, Defiance will be available early next year.
Apart from the exclusives, Amazon also have additional content coming, “In addition, today’s announcement will add several fan-favorite shows to Prime Instant Video including NBC hit and Golden Globe nominated Smash, as well as Syfy drama series Alphas, Eureka and Warehouse 13. Also available are popular children’s programs including Curious George and Land Before Time, which will both be available in Kindle FreeTime Unlimited, the all-you-can-eat content service that brings together all of the books, games, apps, movies and TV shows.”
The Amazon Prime service costs $79 per year which includes free shipping on products, while their instant video service works on a pay-as-you-watch basis. They currently claim to have over 40,000 movie and TV shows available.
Amazon instant video can be watched on a number of connected devices like PC, Kindle Fire tablets, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, Roku and select other connected TVs.
