Kindle Fire Fun at Spectrum Charter School | Autism Society of ...

Last year it was an iPad, this year it’s a Kindle Fire, gifted to the Spectrum Charter School.

With all the same apps, bells and whistles as an iPad, “The Kindle will be used in many ways by many students” according to Spectrum’s Executive Director, Michelle Johnson. “Students will be able to download and read books from out of library, learn math and have fun doing it.”

In addition she said that students will be able to practice and learn how to speak, and work on speech-related goals.

Spectrum Charter School, co-founded by the Autism Society of Pittsburgh in 2000, is the first school in the country to combine classroom education with on-site vocational training, helping students to move into the workplace upon graduation.
