Engraving Kindle Fire | Freedonia.org.uk

I recently attempted to engrave the back of my kindle fire with the laser at build brighton. The back of the kindle fire is made of a rubber like material. I was inspired to do this by a youtube clip of a kindle fire being engraved with a laser which you can see

When lasered the material the back of the kindle is made from turns white as you can see in the video. So I thought I would give it a go. However the laser at build brighton is currently not in the best shape and needs a new mirror so the effect I got would probably have been better if I had waited until the new mirror was fitted. Oh well.

The laser at build brighton is a 40 watt co2 laser. I set the laser power to 12 milliamps at 100% speed in raster engrave mode.

Here is the finished product.

The way the etching fades the further down it goes is not intentional but was due to problems with the laser. But it still doesn’t look to bad. I may try to finish it off once the laser is working correctly.
