Nvidia Tegra 4 vs Google Nexus 10, iPad 4, iPhone 5, HTC Droid ...

CES usually is the first big event of the year, where we can have a closer look at what the mobile market has in store for us for the next few months. A new generation of gadgets is getting ready to emerge and CES was the first chapter of this “Story of year 2013″.

Nonetheless, some companies have been so eager to showcase their latest products that they held press conferences before CES actually opened its gates, and during such an event, Nvidia has unveiled its latest Tegra 4 CPU. The manufacturer claims its upcoming SoC will be the fastest the mobile market, and to back up their claims Nvidia has also showcased a demo video.

Technically speaking, the Tegra 4 chip boasts 72 GPU cores, a new 4G LTE chip and makes use of Cortex-A15 cores (same as the dual-core Exynos 5 chip in the Google Nexus 10). Nvidia claims that its latest creation is the fastest mobile CPU at this point and judging by what we’ve seen in the video below, we tend to agree (we are only comparing Tegra 4 with the current generation of SoCs, not with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, 800 or Samsung Exynos 5).

In the demo, the Tegra 4 is shown loading 25 unique webpages in 27 seconds, whereas the Nexus 10 -which is the fastest Android tablet money can buy at this point- takes almost twice as much to perform the same task: 50 seconds.

The results are quite impressive, and Nvidia also claims that the difference in browsing speed would be even more noticeable if they were to compare the Tegra 4 chip with the iPad 4, the Kindle Fire HD or even the HTC Droid DNA.

Furthermore, Nvidia has also showcased Tegra 4′s capability to handle HDR photography, and on short, while the iPhone 5 takes two seconds to process, Nvidia’s latest chip takes only 0.2 seconds.

It sounds pretty amazing and we’d definitely like to see some more. We’ll keep an eye out so stay tuned, and until then check out the video below where the Tegra 4 CPU overtakes the Nexus 10 in browsing speeds. Enjoy!
