Kindle Fire HD Transformed Into Android Tablet | Current ...

Some owners of the Kindle Fire HD may not be fully satisfied especially if those particular users don’t use any of the Amazon services. The team that makes CyanogenMod has finally released a ROM that will turn your average running Kindle Fire HD into a full Android tablet. Learn more about the ROM after the jump.

There are several manufacturers that run Android operating system but doesn’t give you the full Android experience. For instance, users will find that their particular Android device isn’t updated to the latest OS or doesn’t have access to some features and applications that other Android tablets come stocked with. This is because some devices manufactured by certain companies will run a custom Android OS.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD is a perfect example to these types of devices. While the Kindle Fire HD runs Android, it really runs a custom OS made by Amazon. Users won’t have access to Google Play and they are stuck using an outdated Android OS know as 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, CyanogenMod has released 10.1 which is a custom ROM that will give users of the Kindle Fire HD a choice of running a full Android tablet with Android 4.2 Jellybean. There may be some limits because of the hardware but users will receive all the features and applications that normal Android devices will receive like the Google Nexus 7.
