I had decided that when the Dutch Amazon opened I would order a new Kindle. First, when it was announced, I wanted to get the Paperwhite, but with all the screen problems I’ve decided to wait for the next generation. Then I had the choice between the Touch and the Kindle 4 (non-touch). Since Amazon has updated the screen of the K4 recently and I really like the page turn button I decided to get the K4 over the KT (even if I have to charge it more often).
So I waited for Amazon to open their Dutch store, which was supposed to happen in October. It’s now almost the end of the year and still Amazon NL hasn’t opened it’s virtual doors. Since I’m going on holiday in three week’s time I would really like a smaller and lighter (and new) Kindle. The drawbacks of ordering one in the US are that it’s more expensive (€40) because of shipping and import duties and if there’s anything wrong with the Kindle I have to go to Amazon US to get a replacement, even if Amazon NL has opened.
Today I’ve decided that I really don’t want to wait any longer and that on Thursday I’m going to deposit the money I got for Christmas and my bonus into my bank account and order the Kindle plus a cover. With a bit of luck it’ll arrive on Monday.
