Kindle Fire was released to the public on November 14 this year, over that six-week span since then has sold an estimated 6 million units.
Sales of the popular iPad from Apple over the same period are estimated at 15 million+, firmly placing Apple in the high-end market for these popular tablets.
Industry analysts are indicating that Amazon may be selling the Kindle fire either at cost or below cost, in an effort to access the low-end marketplace for their Amazon prime membership program, a sort of deluxe Netflix/on-demand programming type application.
They have also ramped up marketing for their Amazon Cloud Drive feature, which allows you to store your photos, videos, documents and other digital files quick and easy, with 5 GB of free storage which is enough for roughly 2000 photographs.
According to Amazon.com, Amazon prime is a membership program with an annual membership fee of only $79. Members in the U.S. can enjoy instant videos and unlimited, commercial free, instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows through Amazon Instant Video at no additional cost.
Qualified members that own any type of a Kindle device can also choose from thousands of e-books, including more than 100 current and former New York Times bestsellers, from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
