This book has helped me to get started with learning French. It showed me verbs and nouns along with the conjugations and articles needed to start learning. I am really enjoying this book. There are plenty of examples I can practice while I am trying to understand French.This is just what I was looking for. I book I can take with me on my Kindle and practice when I have time.The book is going to help me write and read French, however, it cannot help me practice speaking yet.
I can highly recommend this book to you if you’re looking to get better at French. I have to travel to France later this year and I have been buying up French language books. I have found this one to be very helpful indeed. Many of the French language books out there can overwhelm the beginning student. This book offers its readers a lot of easy-to-use advice in order to jumpstart French speaking. I also felt that the business section was good for those of us that need to speak French for work. The book covers nouns and pronouns as well as adjectives (which have always been difficult for me). All in all, this has been a good buy and I’m looking forward to using what I’ve learned.
Excellent! Truly a book that understands memorization is not the key but rather practice when studying a language. Using organization, this book gives one the tools to study French on one’s own. Don’t fill out useless charts and depend on the memory. Use the rules and apply them as you use the language to learn the language. One thing I have learned is one should , “Speak French in order to learn it”. Thankfully this book uses subject matter relevant to my age and interests, avoiding the use of childish stories and pictures. I may be on a beginner level, however, it does not mean I want to read books the first graders are reading. Not only this, I am learning words the French truly use and not overused “fluff” jargon. After concluding the book, a noticed a difference and improvement in my sentence construction and vocabulary usage. Truly a gem for travel–I can now communicate and speak true French. Thank you for the insight and glimpse into real French life. Can not wait to experience this in person next month! 5/5 stars!
Finally, a book of French for adult learners. The baiscs of the French language I can get anywhere: vocabulary, verb conjugation, sentence construction; and this book has it. What I needed was help with the everyday “jargon” of the people living and working in France and this book has it!
For learning the basics and more this book is perfect. Apart from a couple of years at school I have never learnt any French and the few times I have half heartedly tried were a complete failure and I ended up forgetting it all. Using this book I have suddenly started to understand some basics of how the language actually works rather than just trying to remember words and ideas. Many thanks, this has been a great help. Lou
In every book that I’ve used to learn a foreign language, there’s always a few conversational topics: going to the doctor, asking where the bathroom is, and ordering in a cafe. These topics are great for a short stay in Paris. This book addresses very important topics that a person must know to actually live there. It teaches you the conversation topics and vocabulary that you will need for business and general employment. This is a very handy book and I highly recommend it.Best,Nate (the Avenger)
This book is great for teaching yourself how to read and write french and is excellent for the beginner. I am going to france very soon and this book will be very helpful for going to the supermarket and if I need to get directions on the way there. Its really easy to teach yourself and I have used it to teach my five year old, she loves it and has picked it up so quickly using this book. I would recommend this book to anyone of all ages.
I found this to be a well written guide to the basics. It will help you quickly and efficiently study basic French and expand your vocabulary. Also works very well in conjunction with anything else you might be using (for instance any software or audio books that you may be using to help learn a language) by virtue of being extremely mobile. Much easier to take your Kindle with you anywhere you go than your computer or a traditional book would be.Best investment you could make to try to improve your French reading and comprehension. Strongly recommend.
I want to visit France someday and felt that if you’re going to go to a country you should know the language. This book is a fantastic guide to help you practice and become fluent in the language. It is written in an easy to understand manner that will not overwhelm a new student. It has a lay out that is helpful and some great tips for pronouncing the words. If you want to learn French or brush up on it this is a great purchase to help you on your way.
I bought this book to assist with my daughter’s homeschooling. Her specific course involves a language elective. I have been teaching her very beginner French words, phrases, and grammar rules with it and she has been catching on quicker with this book than with her actual state-issued study materials. The information is very clearly presented and simplified, but still wholesome. I think this book is an excellent tool for somebody that knows absolutely no French to begin with, and probably even for a beginner of the language as well. The vocabulary and phrases are particularly useful for daily conversation.
