Amazon Blasts Apple's iPad mini on Amazon Home Page | Mobile ...

Amazon Blasts Apples iPad mini on Amazon Home Page 300x183 Amazon Blasts Apples iPad mini on Amazon Home PageAmazon is being anything but subtle in its bold claims about the supposed supremacy of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD over the newly unveiled Apple iPad mini.

And Amazon is using its closely watched home page to make its case.

Apparently, Amazon didn’t take kindly to CEO Tim Cook’s statement regarding rival tablets: “We don’t think they’re good products.” As a result, Amazon is now making a pronounced argument for why the $199 Kindle Fire is better than the 7.9-inch iPad mini, which has a much higher price tag of $329.

Promising a sharper display, with about 53 more pixels per inch, Amazon says the Kindle Fire HD offers “much more for much less.” And to help drive home the point, Amazon is quoting a review from Gizmodo, which reads: “… your [Apple's] 7.9-inch tablet has far few pixels than the competing 7-inch tablets! You’re cramming a worse screen in there, charging more, and accusing others of compromise? Ballsy.”

So… what do you think? Is this s smart marketing move by Amazon? Please weigh in with your thoughts or comments below.
