As soon as the Kindle Fire HD was available for preorder, I snagged one. It is the 7″ model. It came in the mail on Friday, so I have played with it for a day and a half. I absolutely love it! Is it the best tablet on the market? No. Is it the best for me? Yes!

Here are some of my first impressions:
Battery Life – Like I said I have been using it a ton, and the battery life is definitely there. I have watched movies, downloaded and played with apps, listened to music via the device and the Spotify app, and I have done a lot of reading. It seems like the battery barely moves down compared to how much I have used it. Compared to the original Fire, this is very much improved.
HDMI Output – I purchased this micro-HDMI cable to hook my Fire HD up to my TV, and I am SO GLAD that I did! I wish I would have bought a 20ft one, but stepping over the cord isn’t that big of deal to me at least. Being able to see whatever is on my Kindle Fire HD on my big screen TV is awesome. I have played a racing game, watching the TV instead of the tablet screen. I have watched YouTube and Vimeo videos from online, and the ones in HD quality are AMAZING. I even read my daughter a children’s book on the TV. This is a feature I was excited about, just to watch Amazon Prime Instant Videos on my TV, but being able to surf the web, play my tablet’s video games, and watch online videos on my TV have just been additional bonuses I didn’t anticipate but now I can’t live without.
Speed – This thing is fast. I haven’t dealt with any lag really. It’s probably not the fastest out there, but it’s definitely faster than the original Fire, and it’s plenty fast for my needs.
Overall, I am enjoying it and I am definitely glad I bought one! I encourage you to go buy one as well, especially if you’ve been considering it.
