With Amazon about to release new versions of its popular Kindle Fire and sell them in the UK for the first time, we’re expecting a flurry of the tablet computers through the forward2me depot in the coming weeks.
You can already pre-order Kindle Fires from amazon.co.uk and they will be released on 25th October. Amazon claims the tablet has captured 22% of the US market, so it will be hoping to repeat that stateside success in the UK.
Two models of the Kindle Fire are being released, both featuring a seven-inch screen. The updated 8GB Kindle Fire costs £129, while the all-new HD model, boasting Dolby audio and faster wi-fi, comes in at £159 for the 16GB version or £199 for 32GB. We think they sound competitively priced compared to their nearest rivals in the tablet market, the Galaxy Nexus and Apple’s iPad.
Want something a little bigger? Try waiting a few months for the UK release of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. As the name suggests, this model comes with an 8.9-inch screen. It’s reported to be going on sale in the US in early November so hopefully it shouldn’t be too long before we see it here.
