Gadget Lab Show: Amazon's New Kindle Fire HD | Web Hosting Blog

On this week’s Gadget Lab Show, staff writer Roberto Baldwin joins Reviews Editor Michael Calore to talk about Amazon’s new Kindle tablet. The company released the Kindle Fire HD, the follow-up to the original Kindle Fire, at an event in early September. The latest Fire tablet features a sleeker, thinner industrial design and sports a faster processor, a HD screen, an updated operating system, Dolby speakers, and two Wi-Fi antennas that Amazon claims will optimize your Wi-Fi experience.

The Kindle Fire HD also includes a unique X-Ray feature that lets you get character and actor information while watching videos and reading books. Amazon’s latest tablet is in direct competition with Google’s Nexus 7, which is the same size and costs the same amount. To see which of the two 7-inch tablets outshines the other, check out our tablet smackdown between the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7. The device will start at $200, while the first generation Kindle Fire got a price cut to $160.
