Best Buy Launches Pre-Orders for New Kindle Family of Products


Pre-sale starts today in all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores nationwide


MINNEAPOLIS - Sept. 7, 2012 - Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) today launched a pre-sale on the new lineup of Kindle devices, including the new Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, as well as the updated Kindle Fire and 7-inch Kindle Fire HD, at all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores.


The new Kindle ($69), updated Kindle Fire ($159), and 7-inch Kindle Fire HD ($199) will be available Sept. 14. The Kindle Paperwhite ($119 for WiFi and $179 for 3G) will be in stores in October. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD ($299) and Kindle Fire HD with 4G LTE ($499) will be in stores before Christmas. All new Kindle products will be available in all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores nationwide.


"The introduction of the Kindle Fire last year changed and expanded the tablet market for our consumers and we expect the same demand for this latest line of Kindle devices," said Scott Anderson, vice president of merchandising for tablets and e-readers for Best Buy. Adding these new Kindle products to our stores, especially as we gear up for the holidays, is going to be big for Best Buy and our customers."
